The Challenge

The substation basement required an 18-metre excavation on a constrained city plot with occupied structures on two boundaries. Vibration limits ruled out impact driving for a significant portion of the wall line.

Our Approach

We installed a continuous interlocking Z-profile sheet pile wall, switching to press-in installation along the two sensitive boundaries and vibro elsewhere to keep the programme moving. The wall was propped in stages as the dig advanced, with movement monitored throughout.

The Outcome

The excavation was completed and handed over with recorded wall deflection inside the design envelope and no damage claim from either neighbouring property.
